Entertainment guru, Obiagwu, celebrates 10 years of crossing boundaries

Anderson Obiagwu, the CEO of Big A Entertainment and founder of AFRIMMA Awards is one of the most reputable names in African entertainment in the Diaspora. The Imo State born music executive has over the years, built a penchant for excellence, as well as one of the most visible promoters of African arts and entertainment. What started as a passion to push the African brand on the international scene has become a huge brand. For many of the top African artists today. Their story would not be complete without a mention of the impact of Anderson Obiagwu.

For over a decade  Obiagwu has promoted African arts, culture and entertainment. He has pioneered multi city tours for African artists, actors and comedians in Diaspora and is an ardent and unrepentant pillar of support for African Youths. His influence over the youth spans over the entertainment and the medical field.

Anderson who spent his childhood in the Eastern part of Nigeria, is described by people, who knew him, as a young bright boy with huge dreams of impacting the world.  The serial entrepreneur, in a brief chat with R on his career, said Big A Entertainment was committed to promoting African music to the rest of the world by assisting African artistes cross over boundaries through music and discover new niches.

“Some of Africa’s biggest music stars like 2face Idibia, P-square, Awilo Logomba, Fally Ipupa, Wizkid, Diamond Platnumz, Psquare, Timaya, Flavour, Banky W, Kcee, Davido, Iyanya, Dj Arafat, Eddy Kenzo, and Caribbean artistes like Demarco and many others have had shows and tours executed by Big A Entertainment in America and Canada; staying true to the vision of crossing boundaries with music. Top African comedians like Basketmouth, Bovi, Anne Kansime have been on Big A Entertainment tours, “ he said.

Recalling his growing up days and love for Nigerian music, he enthusiast said that he is now at the forefront of propagating African music to the world.

He has been residing in the US of America for the past 20 plus years and has carved a niche as the biggest African music promoter and subsequently the biggest youth movement supporter.

“The passion for African music led to the creation of three trailblazing companies Big A Entertainment, African Muzik Magazine and African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA). The platform gave leverage to African musicians in the United States and the love for African music presently being experienced all over the world is rooted in the sacrifices we have made for African music. At a time when it was not lucrative to identify with the African entertainment industry, the passion for supporting the practitioners marked us out.”

For the past five years, Obiagwu has consistently organised  two annual charity events, the Children’s Easter and Christmas party. The idea being to give back to the Dallas Fort Worth community and has turned into an event the children and parents look forward to yearly. “The children always have a great time and do not miss Santa and the free gifts at the Christmas version. They enjoy the food, drinks, games and prizes won at the games during this even,” he said.

Obiagwu is also heavily involved in charity work back in Nigeria, sponsoring youths in his area through school. He is known to be a believer in hard work and with that the sky is the limit. Hence, his passion to help hardworking youths stands out.

All roads would lead to Dallas, Texas on May 3and 4 as activities to mark the 10 years of crossing boundaries with music takes place. According to him, some of the activities lined up include a book launch, album launch as well as unveiling a documentary of his journey promoting and crossing boundaries with music.
