Tesla owner, Elon Musk, has responded to a viral post on X addressing concerns about the generation of explicit images by his AI chatbot, Grok, after widespread criticism over sexualised and non-consensual content appearing on the platform.
In his post, Musk denied that Grok had produced illegal images of minors, saying the AI operates strictly on user requests and is programmed to reject illicit content.
“I (am) not aware of any naked underage images generated by Grok. Literally zero. Obviously, Grok does not spontaneously generate images; it does so only according to user requests,” Musk wrote.
The billionaire owner of X added that when Grok is asked to generate images, “It will refuse to produce anything illegal, as the operating principle for Grok is to obey the laws of any given country or state.
“There may be times when adversarial hacking of Grok prompts does something unexpected. If that happens, we fix the bug immediately.”

Musk’s reaction came amid mounting global scrutiny over Grok’s image-generation features, which critics say have been exploited to create sexualised deepfake content, including images of women and children without their consent.
Several countries have taken regulatory action against the tool or restricted access to it because of these concerns.
Tribune Online reports that X and its AI unit, xAI, recently introduced technology measures intended to curb misuse of Grok’s image editing tools, including blocking the editing of images to depict real people in revealing clothing in jurisdictions where such content is illegal.
The platform said the restrictions apply to all users, including those with paid subscriptions.
“We have implemented technological measures to prevent the Grok AI account from allowing the editing of images of real people in revealing clothing such as bikinis,” it reads in parts.
