Elder statesman and one of the few Northern oligarchs, Ahmed Joda, is dead. He was aged 91.
A close family source disclosed that he died on Friday at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yola, Adamawa State, during a protracted illness.
“Our father, grandfather and great grandfather has died. May Allah comfort his grave. We have lost a great man,” the family source said.
Alhaji Joda was the head of Muhammadu Buhari’s presidential transition committee in 2015.
During the regime of General Yakubu Gowon, he was considered to be among a group known as super Permanent Secretaries.
He was at different times chairman and board member of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Nigerian Communications Commission, Pastoral Resolve, SCOA, Nigeria, Chagoury Group, Flour Mills of Nigeria, and the Nigerian LNG.
