GOVERNOR Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has donated the sum of N5.5m to the families of the 11 slain soldiers who were killed by armed bandits in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state last week.
Speaking at the burial of the soldiers held at the Commonwealth Cemetery in Kaduna on Thursday, the governor remarked that the family of each of the slain soldier will receive N500, 000.
The governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Lawal Balarabe Abbas, who presented the cheque of N5.5m to the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Mohammed.
The governor said that “the soldiers fought gallantly to protect our lives and property but paid the supreme price.”
He vowed that the Kaduna State Government would not relent in supporting security agencies, in ensuring that their killers were brought to justice.
It willed be recalled, that the 11 soldiers were killed at Kampani Doka village in Birnin Gwari local government area on March 20, 2018, by armed bandits who were said to be on revenge mission over the death of Buharin Daji who was killed in a forest in Zamfara.
