Ekiti varsity student stabs boyfriend to death

A 20-year-old student of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, Bukola Odeyemi has allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, identified as John Iju to death.

Iju, aged 22, who is also a student of the school was said to have been stabbed by her lover at the Treasure base hostel in Iworoko Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area of the state.

Odeyemi is a 300-level student of the department of Biology Education in the faculty of science.

A resident of the area who spoke with on condition of anonymity said the incident happened when an argument ensued between the duo over money the lady demanded to make her hair at the saloon.

The source said, ” it happened in the night when the lady demanded asked the boy to give her N2,500 to dress her hair in the saloon.

“The refusal of her boyfriend to meet up with her demand resulted in a hot argument from where the lady was angered and stabbed him in the chest.”

It was gathered that the deceased died immediately.

Speaking with Tribune Online, the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Ekiti State Command, Caleb Ikechukwu confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect had been arrested.

The PPRO said, ” Yes, I can confirm the incident. What we gathered was that it was the refusal of the boy to give the lady N2,500 to make her hair led to a hot argument and she stabbed the boy to death.”

Ikechukwu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police added that investigations had been launched into the matter and the suspect would be charged to court.
