AHEAD of July 14th governorship election in Ekiti State, the Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday read riot act to all the aspirants seeking for the party ticket to avail themselves with the guidelines for the Party’s primary and Constitution or face severe sanctions.
The National Organising Secretary of the Party, Col Austin Akobundu (rtd) who spoke in Abuja on Friday while receiving the duly completed nomination forms from the duo of Senator Abiodun Olujimi, the Senator representing Ekiti West Senatorial District who was a one time Deputy Governor in the State and Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, who is the current Deputy Governor in the State insisted that the current leadership of the Party would adhere to the guidelines and the constitution to the letter.
According to him, “the rule of the game as encapsulated in the constitution, we urge you, we urge your supporters and other members of the party to simply go by the rules so that whoever emerges as our party candidate at the primaries will carry everybody along.
While counselling the aspirants and their supporters on the need to play by the rules of the game and avoid a rancour-free primary and general election, Akobundu promised that the party leadership would give all the aspirants equal opportunity towards realising their ambitions.
According to him, “the mandate given to our new National Working Committee, NWC, is that every assignment of the party be transparently carried out. There will be no impunity and there will be no imposition,”
The duo who spoke with newsmen after the submission of their nominations declared that they were sure of picking the ticket of the Party at the Primaries slated for May 8th this and demanded for free, fair and transparent exercise.
