Edo: Police probe death of hotel manager

Edo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the suspicious death of Fidelis Osaghae, a hotel manager at Va Lchi Fast Food and Bar, who died under questionable circumstances on July 29, 2024.

Osaghae’s family, through the Akin Fadeyi Foundation (AFF), a nonprofit civil society organisation, had petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), to probe the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to the petition, Osaghae was healthy and had no health issues before his death. He made a video call to his wife at 1:30 a.m. and later ran back to work after being asked to bring “something” by his boss, Oyemike Valentine.

The family alleged that Osaghae’s body was found with strange marks and injuries, suggesting torture and pain before his death.

The Edo Police Command has transferred the case to the State CID for further investigation, with the Public Relations Officer, SP Joel Yamu, assuring that the outcome will be made known once the investigation is concluded.

The police also promised a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding Osaghae’s death and bring the perpetrators to justice.
