Easter: Governor Bala Mohammed calls for peace, unity among Bauchi citizens

As Christians across the world commemorate the Easter season, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has emphasised the importance of embracing values such as peace, love, humility, honesty, and sober reflection.

The Governor also called for selflessness—virtues which he said transcend religious lines and are essential for societal harmony and growth—just as he extended heartfelt greetings and felicitations to Christian faithful in the state and beyond.

In a goodwill message released to mark the Good Friday and Easter Monday celebrations, Bala Mohammed described Easter as a period of deep spiritual reflection and a solemn reminder of the virtues of sacrifice, redemption, and hope exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

According to the Governor, “This season calls for sober reflection. Let us examine how we have lived, how we treat one another, and how we can be better citizens and a more united people. May we find the strength to forgive, the courage to reconcile, and the resolve to walk in love and peace.”

Bala Mohammed urged citizens to protect the unity of the state, rise above political, ethnic, and religious differences, and embrace their shared identity and common destiny.

On the issue of security, the Governor assured residents of his administration’s continued commitment to maintaining peace and order across the state, noting that the government is working closely with security agencies and community stakeholders to ensure a peaceful celebration.

He also acknowledged the economic hardship currently facing many Nigerians and reaffirmed the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to cushioning the impact through the continued distribution of palliatives, particularly food items, to the most vulnerable groups.

He stressed that, “As a resilient people, I am confident that we will overcome this difficult period, stronger and more united.”

The Governor concluded by encouraging residents to celebrate responsibly, show kindness to one another, and offer prayers for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.
