House Leader, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila announced the release of the lawmaker from the Police custody on the floor of the House today at the plenary.
The house had on Wednesday, gave the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, a 12-hour ultimatum within which to effect the release of Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Lado, failure which the House threatened to drag the Police before the Court in order to effect the release.

This followed the adoption of a motion of urgent national importance on the continued detention of the Niger state lawmaker sponsored by Hon. Toby Okechukwu at the plenary on matter in which condemned the action of the Police.
Debating the motion, Okechukwu who decried the continuous detention of the lawmaker noted Hon. Lado’s arrest was in breach of the Legislative Houses Powers and Privileges Act.
Speaking at the plenary, Hon Lado commended the leadership and the members of the green chambers for standing by him during his ordeal with the police.
