Defection: New political chapter about to begin in Zamfara — Liman Kaura

Published by

Following the recent defection of Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Chairman of the Publicity Committee for the formal reception of Governor Dauda Lawal, who left the PDP for the APC, Hon. Lawal Liman Kaura, has disclosed that a new political chapter is about to begin in Zamfara.

At a press conference held on Monday night, Hon. Liman Kaura stated that Dr. Dauda Lawal is stepping forward with a bold, practical, and people-centred decision aimed at decisively confronting insecurity and restoring normalcy across the state.

“Gentlemen of the press, you may recall that for over a decade, our dear state has faced a persistent and deeply troubling security crisis. Many communities have been destabilised, economic activities disrupted, and families subjected to uncertainty and fear.

“Despite these daunting challenges, the Executive Governor, in collaboration with and with the support of the Federal Government, has taken significant steps towards addressing many of these problems.

“As Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, I am here to convey a message of readiness and reassurance that the Executive Governor of the state, Dr. Dauda Lawal, will not relent in his efforts to rescue the state from the shackles of insecurity, poverty, and other socio-economic challenges.

“As a respected political leader, Dr. Dauda Lawal is stepping forward with a bold, practical, and people-centred decision aimed at decisively confronting insecurity and restoring normalcy across our state.”

According to him, the official reception of Dr. Dauda Lawal, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be performed by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who will be ably represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON.

“Consequently, he has decided to join the progressive party of the President alongside other great political leaders of the state, notably the past Executive Governors: Distinguished Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima; His Excellency Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi; Distinguished Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar Marafan Sokoto; and His Excellency Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle Maradun, Shettiman Sokoto.

“This coming together of Governor Dauda Lawal with other top political leaders of Zamfara State represents a powerful message of unity and collective responsibility,” he stressed.

“We therefore call on all invited guests from across the 14 local government areas, especially our teeming youth supporters, to conduct themselves properly and maintain good behaviour,” he appealed.
