For Dr Saubana Ajibola Muraina, who represented Ibarapa North/Ibarapa Central Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for three terms, the word ‘empowerment’ means a lifelong commitment to uplifting people, putting smiles on faces both in and out of election seasons.
Despite being out of office since 2023 and not holding any political post at the moment, Muraina has continued to demonstrate commitment to his people through different empowerment programmes, including cash grants, training in all kinds of vocational skills, workshops and recently the distribution of Farm and Business Support Tools to constituents.
On May 13, residents of Ibarapa North/Ibarapa Central Federal Constituency gathered in their hundreds for another round of empowerment from Honourable Muraina.
At the event, which took place at the Agbeke Gardens, Orile near Olugbon, Igbo Ora, during the programme themed “Empower Ibarapa,” Hon. Muraina handed out 100 hair dryers, 100 sewing machines, 50 packs of insecticides and other farm support implements to 300 residents.
Speaking, Honourable Muraina, who was represented at the event, said he will always make sure that his constituents continue to benefit from different programmes aimed at making life better and more meaningful for them. He added that he would always empower his people with a view to contributing to the economic wellbeing of Ibarapaland and the nation’s progress.
He also urged beneficiaries and all residents of the constituency to be resilient and to continue to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which, according to him, has already begun to transform the country and would still yield more positive results for the country.
The beneficiaries commended Honourable Muraina for carrying out empowerment programmes time and again despite having left office about two years ago. They further commended him for training hundreds of residents on how to make a living and empowering them with equipment needed to succeed in their businesses.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Rafiu Olalere said: “Honourable Muraina has been a great pillar of support for our people. In spite of the fact that he was last in office in 2023, he has deemed it fit to continue to empower constituents. He continues to bring hope to our people through different empowerment programmes. I am grateful to him for the business tool I have just received; it will help me a lot in my line of trade.”
Another beneficiary, Kudirat Aderemi, a hairdresser, who received a hair dryer, said, “I am grateful to Honourable Muraina for this empowerment. I am going to make good use of the tool.”
A fashion designer, Mr Wale Adenrele, who got a sewing machine, also hailed Muraina for supporting residents.
Similarly, All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in the federal constituency applauded the former House of Representatives member for his humanitarian efforts and especially for his passionate commitment to the prosperity of constituents. One of the leaders, Mr Tewobade Oketobo, said: “Honourable Muraina has been a good example for those coming behind to emulate. Despite not holding any political post, he has been carrying out empowerment programmes. This confirms that he is truly interested in the progress of his constituents.”
