Davido suspends music for two months to back Adeleke’s re-election

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced suspension of his music career for two months to mobilise support for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election.

Speaking before inaugurating the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team in Ede on Tuesday, Davido said his involvement was driven by both family ties and the governor’s performance.

“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle, but because he is doing a good job and he has major things to do. The job is not done,” he said.

“We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it has to do with youths,” he added.

Davido charged the team to carry out door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments to showcase the governor’s achievements and future plans.

“Let’s do a door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments, advertising what the Governor has done and the future things he will do with them.”

The committee is saddled with the responsibility of driving youth engagement and grassroots mobilisation for the governor’s re-election campaign across Osun’s 30 local government areas.
