GOMBE State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has donated relief materials worth over N10 million to the victims of the twin windstorm and fire disaster that ravaged Bauchi town and Azare main market recently.
While commiserating with the government and people of Bauchi State over the twin incidents the Governor announced the donation a trailer of relief materials which include rice, sugar and N10m each to the victims in Bauchi and Azare.
This was made known to newsmen in a statement signed issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Junaidu Abubakar Usman explaining that the gesture was meant to serve as succour to the victims.
The windstorm was said to have claimed many lives and destroyed several properties in Bauchi, while the inferno burnt down over 1000 shops and small stalls in the popular Azare main market thereby denying the victims their sources of livelihood.
According to the statement, Hassan Dankwambo had personally paid a condolence and sympathy visits to the Emirs of Bauchi and Katagum, Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu and Baba Umar Faruq Kabir respectively.
In Bauchi, the Taliban Gombe condoled with the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu over the windstorm, which destroyed some areas of Bauchi to the detriment of many families and loss of properties worth several millions of naira.

While in Azare, the Governor sympathised with the Emir, Alhaji Baba Farouk Umar over the fire incident, which razed down shops and stalls in the popular Azare Market, thereby cutting the sources of livelihood of many families.
The Governor urged the victims to see the two incidents as an act of test from Allah and prayed to Allah to give the victims sustainable means of livelihood and the fortitude to bear the losses.
He further appealed to well-meaning individuals to come to the aid of the victims because according to him, it is the only way to demonstrate the unity and oneness of Nigeria and nothing given will be too little or too much.
On their parts, the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu thanked the Governor for the visit, saying whatever happens to Bauchi also affects Gombe because of the long history of togetherness between the two States. While the Emir of Katagum, Baba Umar Farouk commended the Governor for finding time to personally visit Azare to see things for himself having earlier sent a powerful government delegation to sympathise with the people of the Emirate over the unfortunate incidents.
