A Karshi Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced an apprentice, Abubakar Sadiq, to three months in prison for theft and smoking marijuana.
The convict, who is an apprentice in Kugbo furniture market, Abuja, had pleaded guilty to the charges bordering on being in possession of dried leaves strongly suspected to be marijuana.
Judge, Alhaji Anas Isah, however, gave Sadiq an option to pay a fine of N5,000.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the complainant, Sani John and two others, reported the matter at the Kugbo Police outpost, on July 31.
He said that the defendant broke into the complainant’s shop and stole a techno phone worth N8,000, Itel (N4500), power bank (N5,000) charger (N300), bag (N2000), and cash of N10,000.
The prosecutor told the court that during investigations, the police recovered several wraps of marijuana.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 348, 353, 287 and 319a of the Penal Code.
