A Kano High Court has restrained Madobi local government council, its Chairman, Muhammad Lawan Yahaya, the state government and four others from taking over the farmlands of 370 farmers at Kafin-Agur ward in Madobi area of the state.
The presiding judge, Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji, gave the order on Tuesday while ruling on an ex-parte suit filed by Yunusa Abdulmuminu and 369 others.
Defendants (respondents) in the suit are Muhammad Lawan Yahaya, Chairman Madobi Local Government Area, Madobi Local Government Council, Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA), Bureau for Land Management Kano, Attorney General of Kano State, Government of Kano State and Commissioner of Police Kano State.
The plaintiffs are accusing the defendants of forceful taking over their farmlands in the local government area.

The ex-parte order was granted sequel to a 27-paragraph motion filed by Barrister Abba Hikima and supported by a sworn affidavit by Yunusa Abdulmuminu.
The judge then restrained the defendants and their agents from taking over or trespassing on the farmlands of the applicants pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
Justice Ado Ma’aji also gave an order stopping the Kano Police Commissioner who is the 7th respondent in the suit from arresting or harassing the applicants or deploying his men to forcefully take over or tamper with the applicants’ lands, farms and houses.
