AN Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun, on Thursday, remanded two men in prison for allegedly poisoning a bus driver in an attempt to rob and murder him.
Sunday Iyobosa, 47, and Oghagbon Efosa, 38, are being accused of conspiracy, robbery, stealing and attempted murder.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Lamidi Rasaq told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 14 at Ile-Ife.
Rasaq alleged that the accused accosted one Bello Biliaminu, the driver of a Nissan Vanette bus and forced him to take the poisoned drink in an attempt to rob him.
The prosecutor stated that Biliaminu became unconscious after taking the drink thereby endangering his life.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 383 (1), 390 (9), 320, 401, 402 (1), and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge.

The Defence counsel, Mr Hashim Abioye, applied for the bail of the accused in most liberal terms and pledged that his clients would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.
The Magistrate, Olalekan Ijiyode, said he could not grant the accused bail except the counsel provided a formal application to that effect.
Ijiyode ordered that the accused be remanded in prison until July 4 when their application would be considered.
