Lafia, a resident of City College, Mararaba, had pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and theft and begged for mercy.
The judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, sentenced Lafia to 18 months imprisonment on each of the two counts or an option of N10, 000 fine each.
He ordered the convict to produce the entire items he stole.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Ejeh had told the court that one Alilara Hassan, reported the matter at the Divisional Police Station, Mararaba, on Jan.11.
“The complainant alleged that the convict stole his property worth N716,000, which he entrusted to him sometime in November 2017.
“The property includes, two generators, valued at N500,000, a refrigerator, valued at N120,000, a gas cylinder, valued at N30,000, and 22 empty bottle crates valued at N66,000,” Ejeh said.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 312 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
