A Coalition of Civil Society groups has given President Muhammadu Buhari 14 days ultimatum to meet its five demands requests by releasing Omoyele Sowore and all prisoners of conscience.
The groups which include Center for Democracy and Development (CDD), Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), Enough Is Enough (EIE), Concerned Nigerians, Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and others.
The group condemned the attacks on the judiciary and free speech which they said was aimed at silencing Nigerians.
Addressing a press conference on Monday in Abuja on behalf of the group, the Convener Enough Is Enough (EIE) Yemi Adamolekun said the group would mobilise Nigerians and occupy National Human Rights Commission Commission (NHRC ), shut down the country until those conditions were met.

Adamolekun said their demands are “President Muhammadu Buhari to show accountability as Commander In Chief and address the nation on his commitment to the rule of law and human rights.
“The release of all illegally detained persons by Department of State Service (DSS) as reviewed by Amnesty International, Premium Times and Punch newspaper in recent times. That the government obey all pending court orders
“An investigation of the officer who violated protocols and circumstances leading circumstances leading to the second arrest of Omoyele Sowore and unconditional release of Omoyele Sowore”.
He, however, said, “if these five demands are not honoured within 1days , we call on patriots across Nigerians to join us to join us as we occupy National Human Rights Commission offices across the country as it is legally mandated to protect Nigerians and also report to Presidency”.
