The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad has called on the new president of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Abbazih Musa Abubakar Saddeeq to discharge his duties and obligations of his new office with the utmost sense of fair play, impartiality and dedication to duty.
Doing this, according to the acting CJN is the solemn responsibilities of a judicial officer of his status, to exercise the highest standard of professionalism in the discharge of his duties.
Justice Muhammad gave the admonitions on Friday, on the occasion of the swearing-in ceremony of the President of the Customary Court of Appeal at the ceremonial hall of the Supreme Court in Abuja.
The acting CJN reminded the president of the Customary Court of Appeal of the huge tasks and arduous job before him and also charged him to demonstrate purposeful leadership, shun all forms of political pressures and ensure proper coordination of all the justices and activities of the court.

In his response, the new president of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Saddeeq pledged to uphold the tenets of the judiciary at all times without fear or favour.
He promised to do his best for Nigeria by upholding the cardinal principles and objectives of the judiciary.
Justice Saddeeq took over the leadership of the Customary Court of Appeal, following the retirement his predecessor, Justice Moses Bello.
Before his appointment, Justice Saddeeq, who was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984, has been the acting president of the Customary Court of Appeal since July last year, when Justice Bello retired
He is also a member of the Presidential Committee on the Autonomy for the State Legislature and State Judiciary (2019), among others.
The National Assembly approved the appointment of Justice Saddeeq as President of the Customary Court of Appeal in May, after he was nominated for that position by President Muhammadu Buhari, pursuant to Section 266(4) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)
