Christians that show fear of God should venture into politics —Olusola

What do you think are the roles of men in the church, family and the society at large?

It is a divine fact that men are the head of their families and men make the church and are vital part of our society. The significant contributions men make in the church cannot be over-emphasised. They ensure the church is well organised, meetings are done and they liaise with appropriate quarters to ensure that everything run smoothly. They are mostly both the financial bone and spiritual cord in the church and the society at large. When there is any challenge both in the church and family, men are the first person to be there.  However, this is not to say that women do not play vital roles too, they do by supporting and encouraging men. Someone said if the neck does not stand straight, the head will be shaking.

Are there challenges Christian men face that affect their service to God?

If I told you Christian men do not face challenges, I would be a liar. Like every other person, we face financial challenges, pressure at work, aspiration frustrations, sexual enticement, faulty marriage, health issues, family pressures, to mention but a few. But we thank God that men in this assembly, despite all these, are still standing strong in faith.

As a former vice president of the fellowship and now the president, what has been your experience in leadership?

I was at first the Financial Secretary of the fellowship in November 2013, then our cabinet was reshuffled and I became a floor member. But in 2016, I was appointed again as the vice president of the fellowship. The then president, due to the nature of his work, was always travelling and so most of the time, I stood in and ensured there was no vacuum. So for me, the experience has been great, I am a democrat and in the leadership of the fellowship, the interest of my men always comes first. I have a wonderful executive team that I always discuss my vision and plans with. All of us compare notes and come to an agreed policy action that benefit humanity and advance the work of God’s kingdom.

What are your future plans for the growth of RCCG Men’s Fellowship at your parish?

We will, together with my fellow executive members, build a fellowship so formidable in love and unity. We will like to challenge our men to be among the leading entrepreneurs in this country that are providing value added solution services across industries. We want to see our men not only being spiritually filled, but also financially empowered. We believe that if men are empowered, there would be peace in their homes, children would obey and wives would be submissive and the work of God would also advance. To achieve this, we have been strategising on various empowerment seminars, conferences and workshops where our members can be inspired and stimulated to practice all that they would be taught. We would also open ourselves to various financial opportunities and grants both locally and internationally, especially for the entrepreneurs among us.

In recent times, allegations of sexual harassment by men of God seem on the rise. How can this be addressed?

As men, we need to fill our hearts with His words and watch our association. I will also implore our wives to manage us very well because there is high possibility for a man who is not satisfied at home to look elsewhere and commit adultery.

Do you believe Christians should be more involved in politics and governance so as to tackle high level of corruption in Nigeria?

I believe Christians with the fear of God should venture into politics and governance. If the righteous keeps away from politics, they will be governed by the absurdity of the wicked and nothing can be done about that. Christians can no longer stay away from politics and complain about governance. However, only Christians with the fear of God and altruistic mission should venture into politics and not those who want to perpetrate corruption and enrich themselves.

You are preparing for the fellowship’s anniversary, what makes it different this year?

This year’s anniversary is unique in so many ways. God has been faithful to us. We have every reason to praise him and rejoice. None of us is missing, many men got promoted, some relocated abroad, some of our men have populated their family with more children, our wives are looking more glowing in the Lord. We do not have any reason to mourn. In the prevailing economic situation, God has blessed us abundantly and prospered our businesses. And this year is so special because God made the impossible possible. Our project for the year confirms the possibility of God and defeats the impossibilities of men. It is a project we believed could not be achievable considering the prevailing economic circumstances in the country. We give glory to God that He uses us to do this for our parish.
