Rev Fr Godfrey Mark Chimezie of St Theresa’s Parish, Umuahia was early Wednesday morning kidnapped.
Sources said the incident happened along Enyiukwu Road Ohokobe Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.
An eyewitness said the kidnappers intercepted the clergy, who had just concluded a morning mass at St Gabriel Catholic Church, Okpuruhie Afaraukwu, forced him out of his Toyota Corolla into their jeep and sped away.
Rev Fr Godfrey Mark Chimezie, who hails from Enugu State, was ordained a priest earlier this year.
The Abia State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed that parish priest, Rev Fr Godfrey Mark Chimezie, of St Theresa’s Parish, Umuahia was kidnapped early Wednesday morning.
In addition, the Command also confirmed that few hours after the kidnap of the Catholic priest, a woman was also kidnapped at Aba Road, Umuahia, opposite Madonna Catholic Hospital.
The unidentified woman was said to be coming out of a filling station where she bought fuel when her abductors double-crossed her and whisked her away.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Police Command, Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the two kidnap incidents, adding that the investigation was ongoing.
