I have a small Ganglion Cyst on the back of my right hand and was wondering if I can cut it out myself. I am a Nurse and my friend can help me to administer a Local Anesthesia. I have a surgical blade and can just slice the cyst and drain the liquid.

Removing a Ganglion is not that easy. Aside from risking infection or damage to nerves and tendons, it is a very tedious procedure. The surgeon very delicately removes the sac of the cyst. If the sac is not removed, the cyst will come back. The sac is not just sitting there alone. It takes a very trained eye to distinguish the edge of the sac from surrounding tissue. Then a very skilled and steady hand to tease it away from where it is seated. Very often they can be wrapped around a nerve and can be extra tedious to remove. Your best bet is to allow a doctor or at best, a Surgeon to help you to remove the Ganglion.
