The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kogi State chapter, has praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his inclusive leadership style, describing him as a purpose-driven leader committed to religious harmony, peace, and development across the state.

The commendation came during a courtesy visit to the Governor by the state executive of CAN, led by the State Chairman, Special Apostle Adebayo Emmanuel.

The delegation comprised leaders of the five major blocs of the association as well as CAN chairmen from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Speaking during the visit, Apostle Emmanuel said Governor Ododo’s people-oriented and result-driven administration had strengthened religious tolerance and unity in Kogi State.

He explained that the visit was aimed at fostering stronger collaboration between government and the church while also presenting some of the challenges confronting citizens in the state.

According to him, there is a need to create greater access for mutual partnership, promote development, and deepen institutional synergy between religious bodies and government.

The CAN chairman stressed the importance of closer interaction between government and the people, noting that such engagement would improve service delivery and help authorities better understand the needs of the citizens.

He further appreciated the Governor’s support for CAN activities and applauded several initiatives of the administration, including the renovation and construction of 628 public schools, prompt payment of salaries, tax relief measures for civil servants, and the construction of 110 cottage hospitals across the state.

Apostle Emmanuel also commended the ongoing construction of the Kogi International Airport and other people-focused projects executed within the last two years.

Facilitator of the visit and Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi, lauded Governor Ododo’s open-door policy, saying it had brought government closer to the people and created opportunities for citizens’ voices to be heard.

Responding, Governor Ododo expressed appreciation to CAN for its prayers, support, and commitment to peace in the state.

The Governor assured the Christian body that his administration would continue to prioritise the security and protection of all places of worship, while urging the church to sustain peaceful coexistence and respect for constituted authorities.
