My friend just died of colon/liver cancer. She lived 6 weeks after diagnosis. We had been on vacation the week before diagnosis and her only complaint was indigestion. How is this possible? What kind of cancer can move this quickly undetected?

Some people die from cancer fairly quickly, especially if there were unexpected complications or the cancer was very severe. In other cases, it can take months or years. Cancer can be slow or aggressive, treatable or incurable and it is individual to everyone. The rate at which a cancer kills depends on the type of cancer, your health, your age and likely your genetics. Some cancers are very aggressive and will kill in months. Others may grow very slowly especially in older people, and are in the “wait and see” category.
