Tribune Online investigation has revealed that strategic locations in major areas of the state capital, Ilorin and environs are being pasted with posters, billboards and electronic media by aspirants for the 2019 general elections.
The electoral body, in a press statement by its administrative secretary, Mr. Paul Atser, in Ilorin on Monday said that political campaigns now is ill-timed and illegal.
Atser, who said that there is time for every activity leading to the 2019 general elections, added that it must be strictly followed.

“Campaigns in any form at this point in time contravenes Section 99 (1) of the 2010 Electoral Act (as amended) which provides 90 days before polling day for the commencement of campaigns in public by every political party.
“Political parties and their aspirants are therefore advised to desist forthwith from this act which can attract sanction.
“Meanwhile, eligible electorate should seize the opportunity provided by INEC to register and collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) at all INEC local government offices and other designated centres”, the statement read.
