Businessman docked over alleged theft of iron gate

POLICE on Wednesday arraigned a 32-year-old businessman, Yahaya Adamu, in a Sokoto Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft of an iron gate.

Adamu, who resides at old airport area, Sokoto, is facing a count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Mr Monday Kennedy, told the court that the accused intentionally went to Tamaje area of Sokoto metropolis, and dishonestly stole an iron gate.

Kennedy alleged that the accused stole the item belonging to one IKenna Agbanusi of Dambuwa area of Sokoto State, sometime in November 2017.

He said that the investigating police officer recovered the stolen item in the possession of the accused.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nuraddeen Bello, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until May, 10 for further mention.
