President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja from his hometown, Daura Katsina state, where he had voted, hoping that Nigerians appreciate that his administration made it possible for them to exercise their franchise in an atmosphere of peace.
Speaking to reporters on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Monday, he also said he would wait for the official tally of the presidential election results before making comments.

The president had been asked what message he had for Nigerians when he said: “Well, l hope that Nigerians will appreciate that it was this government which made sure that they were allowed in security and peace to cast their votes for whichever party and candidates they wanted.”
Asked about his impressions of the election so far, he said: “I don’t want to depend on rumours, but we will rather wait for INEC to announce the results.”
