President Muhammadu Buhari and National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, are expected to grace the third anniversary ceremonies of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu administration in Ondo State.
Speaking during a press conference to herald the anniversary, Chairman of the Planning Committee and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, disclosed that the president is expected to inaugurate the flyover bridge and industrial park in Ore and other projects across the state.
Akinterinwa, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Donald Ojogo, said Senator Tinubu, would also commission some key projects in the state.
He said the 11-day event will include the anniversary lecture with the title, “The Nigerian Federalism Imbroglio: A Pragmatic Approach,” which will be delivered by human rights activist and lawyer, Femi Falana, while the book presentation would be chaired by Kebbi State governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu on February 27.
He also said that there would be movies meeting with media executives, anniversary mega rally, Jumaat service, musical concert, interdenominational service and dinner with deserving Ondo State indigenes in Lagos State on March 6.
The chairman, however, assured the people of the state that Governor Akeredolu will continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people, by focusing on economic and infrastructural development across the 18 local government areas.
He said “Akeredolu has been resolute in lifting the state’s economic fortunes, expanding its infrastructure and basic amenities and making it viable in every aspect.”
“We know it is not an overnight job but the government is steady and committed in its pursuits of the transformation of the state
That is why we feel convinced to roll out the drums to celebrate with our people and showcase a few of our efforts in translating the 5-Point Agenda of MrGovernor into concrete dividends of democracy, especially in the areas of infrastructural expansion and rehabilitation, community and rural development, economic empowerment and social investments, human capital development, to mention a few among others.”
Reeling out the achievement of the present administration, he said “some of the key achievements of this administration within the space of three years, include the dualisation of CBN to Bishop’s Court in Akure; rehabilitation of Jubilee Junction to UgbeAkoko; rehabilitation of failed portion along Akungba Akokoto Iwaro-Oka-Epinmi-Isua road.
“Others are the dualisation of road from Emure to AUD and from Ministry of Works to Iyere Junction in Owo Local Government; constructions/rehabilitation of selected roads in Sabomi Township (phase 1) in Ese-Odo Local Government ; fabrication of simple equipment at Ondo state Science equipment center, Akure;
“Procurement and distribution of Science and Mathematics kit for 20 Public Secondary Schools in 18 Local Government Areas, Establishment of Akure Tech Hub at FUTA; Digital Training Programme for Entrepreneurs to enhance their productivity; deployment of automated examination system for secondary schools.
“Launch of the Ondo State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme with the flag-off of Abiyamo Construction of a befitting accommodation for the State Internal Revenue Office, and the Revenue House and procurement of Amphibex 400E Machine for clearing water hyacinths and weeds in the riverine areas of the state.
“Construction of a Vehicle Inspection/Testing Center in Akure, Owo as well as others that are ongoing.; construction and renovation of over 500 units of 6 classrooms in primary schools in the state, among others.”
