The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Ijesha North Diocese of Osun State, has tasked President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure he fulfils all promises made before, during and after the presidential election.
The communion at a synod held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Esa Oke, also urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to free abducted Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu and other schoolgirls abducted at the Government College, Chibok, Borno State, in April 2014.
According to a release signed by Diocesan Bishop, Right Reverend (Dr) Isaac Oluyamo and Registrar, Adeleke Agbola, the communion thanked the president for hearkening to the voice of reason by signing the new minimum wage bill into law.
It added that efforts should be put in place to end insecurity including the farmers/herders crisis, kidnapping and armed robberies in many parts of the country.
The communion also pleaded with the people of the state to accept the judgment of the Supreme Court as regards the Osun State governorship election in order to forestall the breakdown of law and order.
The release partly reads: “The synod thanks God for the generally peaceful conduct of the general election in Nigeria and congratulates the winners and urges the people of Osun State, in particular, to maintain peace and support whoever eventually emerges victorious at the Supreme Court of the gubernatorial election in the state.
“The synod urges President Muhammadu Buhari and all other elected office-holders to fulfill their promises to the people and improve the welfare and security of the people.
“The government should also improve on power supply in the country and appeal to the Ibadan Electric Distribution Company to restore electricity to all parts of Ijesaland disconnected for over three months.”
