Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was fatally shot outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel, where he was scheduled to speak at an investor conference.
The New York City Police Department said the attack was targeted, as Thompson was shot in the back and calf by a gunman who appeared to have been waiting for him.
The shooter reportedly fled the scene on a Citi Bike. While the motive for the attack remains unclear, Police are actively investigating.
