Governor Diri Duoye

A five-man panel of justices of the Court of Appeal, Abuja has just affirmed the election of Senator Duoye Diri as the validly elected governor of Bayelsa State.

The appellate court, in its judgment in the appeal filed by Diri and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), set aside the August 17, 2020 judgment of the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which annulled Diri’s election and ordered a fresh one.

According to the unanimous judgment of the appellate court, the appeal, as filed by governor Diri and his party has merit and was allowed.

The Court consequently set aside the Judgment of the Tribunal and affirmed the election of Diri as governor of Bayelsa State.
