As a loyal reader of Tribune titles, my joy knew no bounds when two editorial members of the media organization emerged winners at the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) in Lagos last week. The achievement is like a personal success to me because of my long relationship with Tribune titles.

I also see it as opportunity for me to prove again that experience counts in whatever we do in life. This became more evident with the Platinum for Achievement Award which no other newspaper can wrestle with Tribune as the oldest surviving national newspaper.
It is not a joke that a newspaper survived from November 16, 1949 to this day. My appreciation goes to past and current management for their doggedness and determination that ensured that all the titles still maintain their place at newsstands against all odds.
There is no doubting the fact that state of economy has impacted negatively in the media.
And that Tribune is weathering the storm and publishing and also doing well among other competitors means a lot. While I am wishing the management more success, I am also reminding them the need to double their effort in ensuring that the titles reach a century, which is just 30 years away. It is not impossible because the journey so far travelled is father than what is left. And by the special grace of God this my dream shall come to reality in my lifetime. It is a pleasure that Tribune has done it again.
