Officers and men of the Bauchi State Police Command have been charged to be civil and courteous in the performance of their professional duties of policing.
The charge was given by the newly posted Police Commissioner (CP) to Bauchi State, Lawan Jimeta while interacting with Journalists at the Command headquarters shortly after he assumed duties warning that he will not take any act of insolence and excessive use of force from anyone.
The CP stressed that in line with the policy thrust of the IGP, community policing will be well encouraged and promoted in the Command because according to him that is the only way to have effective policing in the state and reduce crime and criminality.
The Commissioner of Police added that his focus will be how to make Bauchi State crime-free calling on the general public to help the Police in carrying out its professional duties saying that the Police cannot do it alone without support from outside.

Lawan Jimeta while calling for cooperation from the general public to avail the Command of useful information that can lead to the arrest of criminals because according to him, the criminals live among members of the community.
He declared that he has directed all the Area Commanders and DPOs in the state to operate an open-door policy in the management of crimes assuring that he will do the same thing in order to ensure that the objective of community policing was achieved.
Lawan Jimeta then called for support from the Working Journalists in the state to enable him to succeed in the assignment given to him assuring also that all information volunteered will be treated with utmost confidence just as he warned them not to abuse the privilege he has given for them to be able to work effortlessly.
He concluded that the Journalists should always cross-check their facts before going to press in order not to mislead the general public considering the fact that whatever the public hear from the media they tend to believe it.
