A former senate minority leader and Senator representing Ekiti South, Biodun Olujimi has described the ruling of the Supreme Court in favour of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa state as victory for democracy, justice and rule of in the country.
The five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice Mary Odili had nullified the election of Mr David Lyon on the grounds that his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, presented false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in aid of his qualification for the November 16, 2019 governorship election in the state.
Olujimi in a statement on Tuesday said that the country can only achieve greatness if every stakeholder in the polity adhere strictly to rule of law and due process.

The statement reads, “The Supreme Court has again made the point that no one is above the law. The judgement is a victory for democracy, a triumph of truth over falsehood and the affirmation of the integrity of the judiciary. With this, lesson has been served that only strict adherence to rule of law and due process will take the country to her greater heights.
“The courage displayed by the Supreme Court in delivering the judgment at this critical time in our national life has also restored the confidence of Nigerians in the institution of the Judiciary and our democratic order.”
