Bayelsa State government has said that Governor Seriake Dickson’s victory at the apex court was a further confirmation of the uncompromising stance of the nation’s judiciary in the dispensation of justice.
The Supreme Court upheld the election of Governor Seriake Dickson as governor of Bayelsa State and dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva. It will be recalled that APC suffered similar fate at the Tribunal and Court of Appeal.
The court in its ruling affirmed the election of Governor Dickson as earlier upheld by the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal submitting that the reason for dismissal of the petition would be given on Friday, November 18, 2016.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Yenagoa, the state commissioner for Information and Orientation, Jonathan Obuebite said the victory at the Supreme Court, in spite of the pressure, threat and propaganda would strengthen the nation’s democratic rule.
Commending the people of the state for their resilience and loyalty, the commissioner said the confidence reposed in the present administration would be justified, as the present administration will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that the state becomes one of the leading states in the country.
