Bauchi State Police Command has warned that anyone found to be working against a peaceful conduct of the presidential and National Assembly election coming up tomorrow will be promptly dealt with in accordance with the Electoral Act and other relevant laws of the country just as it assured that there will adequate security before, during and after the elections.
The State Commissioner of Police, Ali Aji Janga while briefing Journalists on the preparations of the Command for hitch-free conduct of the elections declared that all flashpoints in the State have been identified and additional security will be deployed to the areas to forestall any breach.
He further assured that in order to ensure that the state was adequately policed, the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has directed the DIG in charge of the North-East as well as one additional AIG are expected to be in Bauchi for the elections.
Ali Janga explained that no VIP will be allowed to go to the polling centre with security aides just as he assured that all the Police personnel have been briefed to be civil and conduct themselves in a way that will promote peaceful conduct of the exercise.
On the resolve by some people to wait for the declaration of results after the collation, the Police Commissioner said that there is nothing wrong with that but the Electoral Act provides that such people should stay 300 meters away from the polling station just as he warned that anyone found to be causing problems will be apprehended and prosecuted.
He also reiterated that there will be a restriction of vehicular movement between 12 midnight and 5 pm on the election day pointing out that only those on essential duties will be allowed to move after they must have been cleared by the Police to do so.
Ali Janga then warned that there should be no announcement of results by unauthorized persons adding that only accredited International and Domestic observers will be allowed to monitor the conduct of the elections appealing to the Media to continue to work for the good of the country through their reports.
