Bauchi LG election: BASIEC trains ad-hoc staff ahead poll

Determined to deliver a credible and accessible local government elections, Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), on Friday, commenced training of adhoc staff that will be used for the exercise.

The Commission began the training with Returning Officers, Electoral and Administrative Officers ahead of the conduct of the Councils Election billed for the 17th of this month across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

In his message at the training, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Ahmed Makama said that the training was necessary in order to equip the Officers with the needed skills and knowledge to enable them carryout their assigned responsibilities effectively.

He reiterated the readiness of the Commission towards working with all the relevant stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives of the exercise.

He tasked the trained officers as major players to make good use of the knowledge acquired for the smooth and effective conduct of the polls.

According to him, “I am happy to report to you that we are set for our Local Government Councils Election on the 17 of this month, therefore we consider as important to train you on your specific responsibilities.”

The BASIEC Chairman added that, “We are ready to commence the distribution of both sensitive and non sensitive materials, so I implore you to take your responsibilities seriously for us to deliver.”

Ahmed Makama then used the medium to appreciate political parties and the general public for their support and cooperation to the commission in the preparation of the conduct of the polls and promised to conduct free and acceptable councils polls.

On his part, a Permanent Commissioner in the Commission, Dr Bala Musa Lukshi appreciated the Chairman for supporting the conduct of the training for the key officers and hoped that it would help to deliver their assignment accordingly.
