Bandits kidnap 30 children in Katsina

Bandits in the early hours of Monday attacked Kasai village in the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State and kidnapped no fewer than 30 children.

A resident of the area told Channels Television in a telephone interview that the fresh attack on the children took place in the early hours of Monday.

He said that the bandits attacked the children who went to fetch firewood on the outskirts of the village on Monday morning.

He said, “The children, numbering up to thirty, went behind the Kasai village to secure firewood, which their parents would use to cook food for them.

“Unfortunately, some suspected bandits intercepted them and took them to an unknown destination.

“We do hope and pray that peace and security will be restored in our state.”

As at the time of filling out this report, the state government and police have yet to issue a statement.
