Ban of posters in Ebonyi is not political ― Emegha

Published by

THE Special Assistant to Ebonyi state government on Capital Territory board Hon Stanley Okoro Emegha has charged the opposition party APC to stop attacking the state government over the ban of posters at the capital city.

Emegha who stated that the ban of the posters is not political said it became so to avoid all sorts of vandalisation of government properties.

Emegha, while clearing the allegation levelled against the government of Governor David Umahi that the ban placed on posters were for political intimidation and denying the opposition party the means of creating awareness to the masses, in an interview, urged Ebonyians to disregard such rumour.

According to Emegha who said Ebonyi state capital spent a lot of money to transform the state to its standard now, said he will never allow it to be filtered with dirt from anyone.

He then called on all political parties to avoid pasting their posters at the state capital and rather advised them to use their posters in their rural areas to avoid been arrested.

However, the SA said he is not against people advertising with flex but advised companies in charge to pay their dues to the state government as at when due.

“They all know that the ban of posters in Ebonyi is not political.

They know that what the government is doing is for them and not for the government, so they should stop vandalising or destroying government property, knowing fully well, that those facilities are serving the public.

“I appeal to people of Ebonyi to guild these facilities jealously, they should understand that the government spends a lot in acquiring them for their use. They should please cooperate and protect government facilities.

If you allow them, you will see mad people using the poster to deface the beauty of the capital city, they will start going to the fountain to put flex banner and posters

Be it the governor’s poster or any other poster we don’t want it in the capital city.

Go to your village, go to the slim board, go to EBBC, go to any other print media and do your advert but don’t put any poster anywhere in the capital territory.

If we see you, we will arrest you, its a policy, you can’t see the serving governor’s poster.

Those people saying we are targeting them should find out if the governor’s own is being posted.

“For the billboards, the IGR is supposed to be paid to the capital territory board, even for the fact that the board is there, but for the past four years, they have not paid a dime to the board.

We have warned them, we are not against anybody putting its flax but what we are after is payment, then mount whatever thing you want to mount.

I don’t see any reason why someone will mount a pole without paying and you will be using it to do advert, it is not proper. It is not only political flex banner, including business, we are asking them to go and pay, it is gazetted, we are not targeting anybody” he said
