President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend (Dr) Olasupo Ayokunle, has inducted a new executive of the association in the South-West zone and charged them to promote the tenets of Christianity and spread the gospel to the people.
Reverend Ayokunle, who spoke at the ceremony held at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Basorun, Ibadan, Oyo State, also urged them to be united and hardworking towards spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of the region and beyond.
At the event held after a Holy Mass to herald the inauguration, Reverend Ayokunle also charged the new South-West leaders of CAN to be innovative and have common goal in order to promote Christianity in the zone.
In a message to the occasion, the Catholic Archbishop of Ibadan, Most Reverend Gabriel Abegunrin, advised clerics to always preach what would promote family cohesion and a decent society.
In his acceptance speech, the new CAN Chairman, South-West Zone, Reverend Father Raphael Osegboun, enjoined government to recognise the efforts of churches in ensuring progress and development of the society.
He assured of the readiness of the executive of the zone to serve diligently.
Other inducted executive members were: Elder Diran Orekurin as Vice Chairman; Reverend Oluyemisi Bamigboye, General Secretary; Reverend Rufus Ajayi, Treasurer; Mr. Adegboyega Ogunbekun, Assistant Secretary; Pastor Joseph Olu-Akanbi, Financial Secetary; Reverend Timothy Ajibola, Director of Ecumenism and Interfaith; Rev’erend Felix Elerewe, Director of Regional Issues.
Others were Steve Alabi, Director of Legal and Media; Reverend Michael Adepoju, Director of Education/Women/Youth; Reverend John Adeniyi, Director of Audit and Apostle Amos Ajayi, Director of Planning and Research.
