The Delta State Police Command, on Wednesday, said three persons died and 11 are still receiving treatment in hospitals following the collapse of building on Tuesday evening at Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The deceased were identified as two girls and a woman whose names were not disclosed.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, in a WhatsApp statement on Wednesday morning, however, refuted reports that 10 persons died in the incident.
He added that 18 persons were rescued from the rubble, four persons discharged from hospital and 11 victims still receiving treatment in hospital.
“Three person’s have died so far. Rescue operation is over, 18 persons rescued initially, four person’s discharged, 11 persons still receiving treatment.
“Three deaths were recorded which include two female children and one woman, their names unknown for now.
“Kindly ignore the rumours making rounds that 10 people died, that’s not correct,” he noted.
Earlier reports on some major media outfits put the figure of the dead at 10 in the partly collapsed section of the building harbouring Salvation Ministries during Tuesday evening service.
