THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released results of Saturday’s federal and state constituency by-elections, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerging as the biggest winner.

APC claimed five of the six seats contested nationwide.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) picked up the only other seat, winning the Rivers South East Senatorial District of Rivers State.

APC’s Ikeje Asogwa won Enugu North Senatorial District by-election in Enugu State decisively with 162,360 votes.

He defeated PDP’s Chief Nestor Ezeme who got 9,299 votes. The seat became vacant after Senator Okey Ezea died on November 18, 2025.

APC’s Rabiu Garba Aiki took the Zuru State Constituency seat in Kebbi State with 4,887 votes. Labour Party’s Aliyu Galadima Muhammad polled 168 votes. The vacancy followed the death of former Kebbi Speaker Muhammad Usman Zuru.

APC’s Rabiu Shuaibu won Dawaki Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election in Kano State with 35,356 votes. He defeated Lawal Garba-Haruna of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) who had 268 votes while Labour Party’s Abubakar Yahaya-Muhammad scored 98. The by-election was held after Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) died.

The seat became vacant when Senator Jimoh Ibrahim was appointed Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Labour Party’s Labaran Maku had 12,931 votes and PDP’s Emmanuel David Ombugadu got 11,570. Voters went to the polls after Senator Godiya Akwashiki died following a prolonged illness.

Olaka Nwogu scored 47,961 votes to defeat APC’s Osar Erewari with 1,647 votes.
