FORMER Governor of Anambra State, Chief Chuckwuemeka Ezeife, on Wednesday, predicted that politicians defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South East region would be disappointed with the failure of the party in the region saying none of the Southeast States has nothing to show the people of the region for the APC’s government
Ezeife who stated this in Akure, the Ondo State capital during the public presentation of the biography of Governor Olusegun Mimiko advised such politicians dumping the party to stick All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
The former governor noted that those jumping into the APC in his home state as those who wanted governorship through the back door saying they will be disappointed at the end of the day.
He said, “Southeastern people are not going to APC. What is happening is that some people who want to be governor by stealing the position about twelve of them are going to APC and they will discover that they will never win any election after going there.
“They cannot win the governorship. So don’t worry about that. We have been more consistent in the zone, so we are not going anywhere. We are consistent in APGA and PDP.
Some people saw what happened in Edo and Ondo and they believed that the only way to be governor is to go through APC but we are assuring them that our people will not vote for them.”
Ezeife aligned with the position of Governor Rochas Okorocha that the Southeast states have nothing to show from the government at the centre at the Federal level, sayings “there is nothing for us to show in this government. Are we the Secretary to the government of the federation? Do we have any protocol position? Nothing. Okorochas is in APC but we know that we are not wanted.
“Some people who wanted to be governor are smuggling themselves in to APC but we will not allow them. We are going for presidency. I like what Chief Olusegun Obasanjo said. For that 2019, we are going for President.”
Ezeife also backed the call for the restructuring of the polity said “Every Nigerian who knows what he is talking about must support restructuring. That’s the only way we can survive. Every Nigerians who thinks with his head must support restructuring.”
