THE crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State took a new turn on Monday as the sacked Ward Congress chairman in Delta State, Alhaji Sani Dododo, is said to have submitted result of a parallel LG Congress to the national secretariat in Abuja.
The submitted result, as gathered, was the outcome of a parallel Local Government Congress held last Saturday led by Alhaji Dododo.
TribuneOnline learnt that the sacked chairman allegedly held the parallel congress with the assistance of Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial district, Senator Omo-Agege and Chief Great Ogboru.
The action is a disregard of the directives by the National Working Committee (NWC) not to hold parallel LG Congresses on unapproved venues.
TribuneOnline recalled that the NWC, in a letter dated May 10, addressed to the Delta State Commissioner of Police and other security agencies in the state, said: “The chairman, Alhaji Sani Dododo, has, however, been replaced with the new chairman, Chief Emmanuel Chindah.”
The NWC in the letter signed by the party’s national secretary, Hon. Mai Malu Buni, had appealed for assistance for the new chairman and his six-man team.
“We request that you give them maximum support and police security throughout their stay in the state,” Buni had pleaded.
But disregarding the sack order by the NWC, the ousted chairman, Alhaji Dododo, in company of the Delta State APC chairman, Prophet Jones Erue, Ovie Omo-Agege, Chief Great Ogboru and among others, allegedly took the result of the parallel congress conducted in the state to the party’s secretariat for submission in a bid to give their followers “false hope.”
Meanwhile, the Chindah-led committee, on Monday, has submitted its report to the appeal committee at Asaba, while Dododo-led group has purportedly gone to the party’s headquarters in Abuja to submit a fake result to some party officials, instead of the NWC.
Alhaji Dododo, it will be recalled, was sacked by the NWC after being accused of acting outside the party guidelines and unilaterally announcing the May 5 ward congress result.
Dododo had allegedly announced the results of the 270 wards of the 25 local government areas of the state at the party’s state secretariat in Asaba without the inputs of other five committee members and a recourse to the party national leadership.
