The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate, Mr Valentine Ozigbo and Senator Andy Uba, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

The three major candidates all hail from Aguata LGA.

Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), polled 9,136 votes to defeat his other contenders.

The APC candidate came a distant second after polling 4,773 votes. Ozigbo, the PDP candidate, followed closely after securing 3,798 votes.

While announcing the result on Sunday, Alim Ajake, the LGA returning officer, said the election did not hold in some units in four wards.

Ajake listed the affected wards as Umuchu I Ekwulobia II, Igbo-Ukwu I and Igbo-Ukwu II.

The returning officer said the total number of registered voters in Aguata LGA is 144,766. While 20,809 voters were accredited, 20,202 voted.

According to him, 19,548 votes were valid and 654 were rejected.

The breakdown of the result from Aguata LGA is as follows:
