Anambra NYSC joins nationwide environmental sanitation exercise

Anambra Office of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Saturday, joins the Nationwide Environmental Sanitation exercise in the State.

Tribune Online gathered that the environmental exercise, flag off by the NYSC State Cordinator, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, on behalf of the Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, at Neni, Headquarters of Anocha local government area of the state, commences at about 8am.

Addressing Corps members who participate in the exercise, the Director-General, urged them to be conscious of their health, practice good hygiene and they should continue to educate their host communities on the benefits of clean environment.

He said the NYSC scheme was interested in their wellbeing and would not undermine their welfare and security.

“I wish to assure Nigerians that we will not rest on our oars as we continue to offer health and other services, including environmental protection. I am particularly hopeful about the prospects of this exercise because with regular sanitation, malaria and other related diseases will be reduced to the barest minimum, he explain.

The DG, thank the state government, traditional rulers, community leaders, NYSC Staff in the state, serving Corps members and other stakeholders for demostrating the zeal to contribute towards ensuring a healthy and stable environment.

In their seperate speeches, the Traditional ruler of Neni, Igwe Demian Ezeani and the Transition Committee Chairman of Anocha LGA, Honourable Patrick Onyedum, represented by Honourable Benson Igwemadu, advised the corps members to use their national service to promote unity, integration and national cohesion among Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic nationality, religious creed or political leanings.

They urged the Scheme to make it a monthly exercise to enable Nigerians know more about the importance of hygiene Evironment.

The leaders also appealed to the corps members to take cognizance of their security in the state.
