AHEAD of the Anambra State gubernatorial election slated for 18th November this year draws nearer, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, on Wednesday assured the People of the state of adequate security with a promise of massive deployment of Police Personnel to all the nooks and crannies of the State.
The IGP who spoke in Abuja yesterday during his monthly meeting with Senior Police Officers from the ranks of Commissioners of Police c and above disclosed that Police would do everything possible to ensure a hitch-free election in the state.
This came just as the IGP decried the recent kidnapped of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and five others in Niger State, saying that the incident was very embarrassing and unacceptable to the force.
Speaking on the deployment of Police personnel in Anambra State he charged the Police officers to ensure that all deployments conform with the Police Act and other regulations in the Force.
He tasked the Police officers to ensure total control of the men serving under them to check cases of misconduct.
According to him, “the senior officers must ensure total control of the men serving under them in order to ensure that they carry out their activities within the law of the land.
The IGP commended the Officers and men of the force for their efforts in tackling violent crimes particularly kidnapping in the society.
In a related development, the IGP at the same occassion gave out over N5 million cheques to Next of Kins and families often deceased officers who died between 2013 and 2016.
He said the settlement of the death benefits of the deceased officers would boost the morale of the serving officers and the ranks and files.
