THE Executive Secretary of Nasarawa Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (NCPWB), Barrister Clement Odeh has called on Nigerians across the country to be security conscious at all times to forestall a repeat of the killings of scores of Christian worshipers at St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu, Anambra State.
Barrister Odeh who made the call on Tuesday, while speaking with newsmen in Lafia, described the incidence as a black Sunday to Christians and Nigerians in general.
“If we want the government to assist us, we should first assist ourselves by being security conscious. There was no way the gunmen would have invaded that church without the help of some community members. This means that we must be careful of whom we give information to,” he said.
The Executive Secretary who commended the security agents for their swift response to the incident, called on government to equip and increase staffing of the country’s security agencies for optimal productivity.
Speaking on the call for restructuring of the country, the executive secretary described the call as baseless saying Nigeria is better in unity than in division.
He explained that, the end beneficiaries of the recent agitations in the country are the elites and not the poor masses who are currently championing the protest.
Barrister Odeh, added that the agitation should be channelled towards the call for good governance as all sections of the country are bedevilled by maladministration of past leaders.
He, however, called on government to look into the issues raised by the agitators with a view of providing lasting solutions to their plight.
