Ambode who made the call at a special service held at the Christ Church Marina, Lagos to mark the opening of the 2018/2019 Legal Year of Lagos State Judiciary.
Speaking further, Ambode regretted that in spite of efforts, the plague of delay in justice delivery is still of major concern.
Governor Ambode emphasised that Lagos Judiciary must continue to be in the forefront of judicial reforms to meet the expectation of the modern day justice sector.
He said justice system must remain sound, fair and effective because the state has the responsibility of 24 million people who look up to her to protect them with the law.
Also delivering a lecture, at a similar service held at the Lagos Central Mosque, an Associate Professor of Islamic Studies, University of Lagos, Akoka, Dr Ismail Musa admonished Judges and Magistrates to dispense justice with the fear of God.
Dr Musa said Judges must always have it at the back of their minds when hearing and delivering judgement on cases that they are representatives of God who himself is the Judge of all Judges.
