Alberta targets African market as part of its diversification strategy Premier Jason Kenney said Friday.
Kenney said this in Calgary while speaking at a party held in honor of Hon. Kaycee Madu, Minister of Municipal Affairs at White Diamond Conference Centre.
“Now that we see trade barriers emerging in Asia and uncertainty in the United States, it is a clear call to us to diversify our trade markets and that must include Africa,” Kenney said.
Kenney, Alberta’s 18th Premier led United Conservative Party (UCP) to an overwhelming election victory in April after scoring 55% of the popular vote in a campaign focused on jobs, economy, and pipelines.
Speaking on behalf of African Coalition Alberta, Stephen Mutizwa challenged Alberta to show more interest in Africa.
